Privacy notice
How we handle the personal information you give us through this website.
Who we are
This website is operated by Basta Law Professional Corporation, Caledon, Ontario. Questions about this notice can be sent to info@bastalawpc.com.
What we collect
When you send a consultation request, we collect the information you enter in the form: your name, phone number, email address, contact preferences, the type of matter, the names of other people involved, any court date and Legal Aid status you provide, and your brief description. When you call or email us, we collect the information you choose to give us.
This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.
Why we collect it
We use this information only to respond to your request, to check for conflicts of interest, and to arrange a consultation. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use it for marketing.
Please limit what you send
Please do not include confidential details about your matter in the form. Sending a request does not make you a client of the firm, and information sent before we have checked for conflicts may not be protected in the same way as information shared after we agree to act for you.
Where it is stored
This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc. Form submissions are stored by Netlify and sent to the firm by email. Netlify stores data on servers in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country. Our hosting provider also processes technical information such as your IP address in order to deliver the website. Form submissions are checked for spam using Akismet, a service operated by Automattic Inc., which processes the submission for that purpose.
How long we keep it
We regularly delete form submissions from our website host once the information has been moved to the firm's records. If you become a client, your information is kept in your client file as required by the Law Society of Ontario. We keep a record of names for conflict-checking purposes.
How we protect it
The website uses an encrypted connection. Access to form submissions and firm email is limited to the firm and protected by two-factor authentication.
Your rights
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to our use of it, subject to our legal and professional obligations. Contact info@bastalawpc.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
